Natural in the vineyard, natural in the cellar
Our work aims to combine respect and protection of the environment with the artisanal production of delicious, healthy wines and foods. Casa Giachi uses only grapes from its own vineyards, which the family meticulously tends, following organic and biodynamic methods, without fertilizers, with minimal tillage and minimal mechanization. With these wonderful grapes, we produce—with the love and attention we dedicate to homemade products for our loved ones—quality, authentic, and environmentally friendly wines, using skilled human labor, mechanical processes, and eco-friendly products throughout the entire supply chain. Francesco, enriched by his readings of theosophy and anthroposophy, and with the technical advice of a winemaker specializing in natural wines, has introduced biodynamic farming practices to the winery, including the use of multi-varietal green manure, biodynamic spray preparations, herbal teas, macerates, and clays, adherence to a strict harvest calendar, and the maximization of biodiversity.
Without prejudice, we reject all the "loopholes" offered by synthetic chemistry, advanced mechanization, and modern gangmastering.
Choosing biodynamic agriculture means undertaking a challenging but rewarding transition, capable of making your business 100% natural.
Environment
The Casa Giachi company uses only energy from renewable sources, largely self-produced with photovoltaic systems and wood from its own forest. In 2014, it replaced all small combustion engine-powered equipment with battery-powered electric ones, reducing noise and emissions. The company has a rainwater collection tank and an artesian well; the use of precious drinking water is limited to washing equipment and food containers.
The air conditioning of the rooms is passively guaranteed by the building's thick stone walls and its favorable exposure.
Even the wine packaging is environmentally friendly, thanks to the use of lightweight glass bottles, chemically untreated natural cork stoppers, shellac seals, and interlocking cardboard boxes. In other words, only natural and fully recyclable materials are used.
