History of the company and the family
The Giachi family, better known as Masetti, has always produced wine, as evidenced by the old concrete vats with wooden doors in the house's underground cellar, now restored. In the 1960s, Quirino purchased approximately 10 hectares of woodland and arable land in Chiostrini for his children Fernando, Franco, and Anna. A few years later, upon the birth of his son Francesco, Fernando decided to plant a vineyard there to produce Chianti wine, making it his full-fledged profession. Until the early 2000s, the wine was sold in demijohns to families in the village and the Mugello area. In 2011, supported by a young winemaker passionate about natural wines and encouraged by Francesco, the eco-friendly approach took place; systemic pesticides and chemical fertilizers were abandoned, and the use of oenological products in the cellar was abandoned.
A few years later, satisfied with the results achieved, Francesco left his IT profession to "return" to agriculture, beginning the process of obtaining organic certification for the company, which was achieved with the 2017 harvest. In 2014, the family tradition continued, and Francesco, with the birth of his son Gregorio, planted another vineyard using only ancient native Tuscan grape varieties. In 2021, Fernando formally handed over the helm of the company to his son Francesco, who, under the company name Casa Giachi, will continue the production of quality grapes and wines, with an eye for tradition and innovation.
Who am I?
From the field to the cellar, I scrupulously follow every stage of the production process, dedicating myself personally to the cultivation of the vines and the production of the wine.
I was born and raised here, among the vineyards that I know like the back of my hand.
"The call of nature prevailed in every aspect of my life. It was like a magnet; I felt I had to return to farming as soon as possible, and I trusted it blindly.
I left my IT profession, made of calculations and technology, and I returned to my peasant origins."
Casa Giachi represents the culmination of a sudden change of direction, aimed at rediscovering one's origins and traditions.
